There is a really nice people that has a vital importance on the Ocidental upbringing. They are called Greeks. We developed the Hellenic civilization which was really cool and sophisticated. On that Age, we used to love the Philosophy, Sciences, all kind of party, and Arts.

Our talent was so special that our culture past through the centuries of time and arrived to the Modern days.

We used to considered “man” the center of all things. We used to beleive in Gods, but we were also very rational. We actually still are. To us, the beauty was the fundamental point to find the balance and harmony. I actually have an amazing calligraphy, and I also draw pretty good, by the way.

My people created the writting in the IX B.C. We were the first people to write from the left to right and from upside down.We also consagrated  lots of legends and interesting myths, and all of them were past orally through generations and generations.

All these legends and myths has a great value for us that goes beyond the invisible of time, a time where models and examples goes beyond the appearances and circumstances, and you can get these models and recreate them. The Psychology studies these models to denote archetypes, in other words, typical models of behavior.

And these are some reasons I love to be Greek.

DID YOU KNOW?

The olive was considered the most noble plant of the whole Greece. It grows up near the Mediterranean seashore. It has the ability to resist the drought and the fire. His wood is so strong that the Ancient Greeks used to use it to make statues for the Gods. We not only used marble like many people think, you know. Also, science already proved that the olive wood is stronger than iron. And this is kind of cool.

The fruits of this plant are still used to make olive oil. It was us, the Greeks, who invented the olive oil, but not the Portuguese people or the Romans as many people think, which is kind of crazy.

The olive plant was so important and good for the health that the Ancient Greeks athletes from the city of Olympia and also the Attic gladiators used to use its oil to strengthen their body muscles and also to stablish contact with the Gods. In the other hand, the other ones used to use it like a very useful fuel to light up their homes, the streets of the cities, the temples, and the gods statues.

The Greeks called him Erichthonius. Son of Gaia and Hephaistos he became the first king of Athens. His nation was not only a hometown, but also his mother. Athens could not stay with a boy who was not generated from her. They say she hide the little baby for while and then put him inside of a box and left him with the daughters of Kekropes, the first king of Athens. Athens told them to not open the box but they were pretty stupi and they did it. They said that the girls became so surprised with what they saw that they jump from the top of the Akropolis straight to death. All of them. However, when Erichtonius grew up and then became king, Athens became really connected to our city. Athens was kind of like ambicious. She was so Greek and so ambicious that she started a war with Poseidon to get the region of Attica only just for her. She was kind of selfish, you know. Poseidon laughed from her and ripped the mother earth in two pieces with his trident, and a beautiful horse came out from it. But Athens used to be pretty much better than Poseidon. She knocked on the floor with her golden sharp spear, and then a little beautiful plant with silver flowers came out from it, and then little black fruits sprout from them. It was the birth of the olive plant, you know.

My name's Kostas Katsouranis. I'm Greek. Today I will tell you the origin of my people.

The origin of our history begins with a beautiful Goddess called Athens. She is older than the Minoic civilization, the people of Atreides, and Agamemnon.

She wasn't born from a human like us. She was created by Zeus. There's a lot of cool vases that show her adventures. She was strong like her waepons and she really knew how to cause a big headache to her father, however,  Hephaestus result Zeus' problems with a strong blow on his head. The price for such a relief was take his daughter as a wife. Zeus totally agreed with it. However, his beautiful daughter of bright black eyes didn't like her future husband. Like, he was kind of ugly and weird, you know. So they started a real fight, and Hephaestus was so horny with the possibility to take Athens only for himself that he ejaculated on the floor, when their bodies touched eachother during the fight. His sperm droped on the floor and the mother earth sucked his seed. Finally, a little boy sprang out from the earth and Athens became a mother, the wish of all Greek woman.
